GED/Adult Basic Education

If you do not have a high school diploma, you are encouraged to work on your General Education Development (GED) diploma through the Brookings Area Career Learning Center.

Why should you get your GED?

bulletJob Opportunities - Many jobs and promotions require a high school diploma or GED diploma.
bulletEducational Opportunities - Most colleges, vocational schools, and training programs require a high school diploma or GED diploma. The GED is accepted proof that you completed your high school education.
bulletIncrease Your Income - Incomes increase with your level of education. More education means a better job with better pay.
bulletSelf-Esteem - GED graduates experience an incredible improvement in the way they feel about themselves and their lives. They gain the confidence to set even higher goals.
bulletSend a Message - When you receive your GED diploma, you send a message to your family and your community. You tell them that you take education and your responsibilities seriously.
bulletInvest in the Future - Educated parents have better educated children. Earning your GED is an investment in yourself and an investment in the future of your children.

GED instruction at the Brookings Area CLC is set up according to areas of need on an individual basis as determined by the use of the Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE). Workbooks, videos, and individual instruction are all used to help you prepare for the GED exam. Individuals are also encouraged to enhance math, reading and computer skills by accessing instruction at the CLC.

GED Orientation Classes - Mondays at 2 p.m.
