Dialup Questions
Q - When I try to connect it continuously prompts me for my password?
A - This is usually caused by a mis-typed user name or password. In your user name, make sure not to include the @brookings.net afterwards, this is only used for your email address.

Q - I keep getting 'line busy'?
A - More than likely your connection is dialing the wrong number to connect. Check its properties and make sure the number being dialed is 697-7216 or 692-6196, if you need to dial 9 to access an outside line make sure there is a 9 (9697-7216) before the dial-up number.

Q - I get 'no dial-tone' when I try to connect?
A - Check the connection from phone line to modem. The phone line should connect to the jack on your computer labeled by a picture of a phone jack, or the word LINE. If the phone line is connected to the right port and it still doesn't work, unplug the line from the back of the computer then plug it back in and restart your computer.

Q - How can I stop all this junk mail?
A - The Postini Spam Filter is available to all Swiftel customers. The spam filter can be used to filter spam for swiftel.net and brookings.net email addresses (i.e. blank@swiftel.net or blank@brookings.net). To enable the Postini Spam Filter login to the Swiftel Webmail using the instructions provided in this FAQ. The Message Center displays the emails that have been flagged as spam and blocked by the spam filter. It is a good idea to visit this page occasionally to make sure that the spam filter hasn't blocked any of the emails you want to receive. Next click on the "Junk Email Settings" link at the top left of the web page. This page allows a user to customize the spam filter.
