Dialup Setup Guide Thank you for choosing Swiftel Communications as your Internet Service Provider. For your convenience, we have put together this instructional packet to assist you in setting up your computer to connect to the Internet. Turn the page and we will begin your setup process. Please click on each area in the following order: 1.) Start 2.) Programs 3.) Accessories 4.) Communications 5.) Internet Connection Wizard Select ‘I want to set up my Internet connection manually or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)’ Click Next Select ‘I connect through a phone line and a modem’ Click Next Fill in the area code and telephone number to be dialed “697-7216” Make sure ‘Dial using area code and country code’ is unchecked Click Advanced Select PPP (Point to Point Protocol) for connection type And None for Logon Procedure Click the Addresses Tab Click Next Type in your user name and password. Do not put the @brookings.net After your user name, this is attached for e-mail addresses only Click Next Type in the name of the internet connection as ‘Swiftel’ Click Next Select ‘Yes’ to set up an Internet mail account Click Next Select ‘Create a new Internet mail account’ Click Next Type in a display name for the account (usually your full name) Click Next Type in your e-mail address ‘your user name @brookings.net’ Click Next Select ‘POP3’ for ‘My incoming mail server is a’, and type ‘mail.brookings.net’ for both incoming and outgoing mail servers, then click Next Account name and password are the same that you chose when signing up for the Internet Make sure the ‘Secure Password Authentication’ is not checked Click Next |
