Swiftel Dialup Configuration

Thank you for choosing Swiftel Communications as your Internet Service Provider.  For your convenience, we have put together this instructional packet to assist you in setting up your computer to connect to the Internet.

Turn the page and we will begin your setup process.

Windows 95 Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 3.x

Please click on each area in the following order:

1.)   Start  »  Programs » Accessories  » Internet Tools

2.)    Click on the Internet, or Setup Wizard (Different versions of Internet Explorer may be slightly different in their setup procedure.)

3.)   Choose the “Manual” Setup Option.

4.)   Click on “Next”

5.)   Click on “Next”

6.)   Choose “Connect using my Phone line”.

7.)   Click on “Next”

8.)    Choose the modem you have installed, let your computer install one for you.

9.)   Click on “Next”

10.)          Type in Swiftel Dialup.

11.)          Click on “Next”

12.)           Fill in the area code and the number to be dialed, 697-7216

13.)          Do not check “Bring up terminal window after dialing”.

14.)          Click on “Next

15.)          Type in your User Name and Password. (Do Not put @brookings.net after your user name. This is for E-mail addresses only.)

16.)          Click on “Next”

17.)           Choose “My Internet Service automatically assigns me one”

18.)          Click on “Next”

19.)          Fill in your E-Mail address: username@brookings.net

20.)          Internet Mail Server: mail.brookings.net

21.)          Click on “Next”

22.)          For Windows messaging choose the default setting of “Internet Mail Settings”

23.)          Click on “Next”

24.)          If all information entered is correct, click “Finish”.

25.) Click on “NO”
