A Little Bit About Our Past
Headquartered in beautiful Brookings, South Dakota, our company began providing telephone service more than 100 years ago as Brookings Telephone, a department of Brookings Municipal Utilities. Over the years, we made it our goal to seek out and provide cutting-edge technology. In the process, we became experts in the field of telecommunications.
In 1997 we became 'Swiftel Communications,' and entered the world of PCS digital wireless technology. As part of that venture, Swiftel established Sprint Stores in Brookings; Watertown, SD; Sioux Falls, SD; and Sioux City, IA.
Our Present
Today, Swiftel combines a century of traditional telephone experience with advanced telecommunications products and services. From DSL high-speed Internet and Voice Messaging, to wireless networks and Voice Over IP, we provide the most up-to-date technology available.
We’ve worked hard to establish a solid reputation in the industry, and have earned trusted relationships with several of the top product distributors in America. In fact, Swiftel is the largest distributor of Nortel Networks phone systems in eastern South Dakota.
Our technicians are certified by Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI), a professional network cabling association that sets industry standards. This prestigious status has helped Swiftel earn contracts to install cabling and sophisticated telecommunications systems throughout the region.
